In the year 1920, due to their desire to educate their children, they started this school in a thatched hut under the name of Mud/Oluvil Tamil Boys School on the land donated by a common son in this village. Its first principal was Mr. P. Pathakkutty from Jaffna area.
In 1932, the name of Tamil Boys' School in Matfolu was changed to Oluvile Government Boys' School. Until 1944, there were only classes up to standard 7.
Looking at the history of the school, it can be realized that only after 1947, it was transformed into a Kalavanpadasalai where girls could also be educated. In 1959, the name was changed to Government Muslim School in Olu. In the same year, a school development council was established and people were united with school development. In the year 1963, Lulu classes were started. By 1973, higher standard classes were started. In 1974, during the time of President ALM Mukaidin, the status was upgraded to Maha Vidyalaya.

Al Hamra has thus grown and has today admitted hundreds of students to the university. Many of its children are trained and doing educational work in educational colleges. It has also created many other academics for this city.
In 2013, the popularity of this school has spread across the country after the science section was started in addition to the existing arts section and commerce section. It is significant here that the number of university entrants in the fields of arts, commerce, engineering, medicine, and management is increasing every year. Ash-Sheikh UK, who is serving as the Chancellor today, is significant here. Abdur Rahim is working day and night and doing his duty well. Working day and night is an aspect that should be mentioned here as a matter of mental comfort for the people of this town, school well-wishers and students.
